Germany II – Stelvio

In Europe we rented a Porsche Cayman and so naturally I went looking for some roads to drive it on. That led me to the famous Stelvio Pass, as much in Austria as Italy, just outside of Germany. I acted on a hunch that if I woke up really early I may be able to drive up to the pass without much traffic to slow me down.

I was correct.

I tried to drive the pass again later in the day but the road was closed due to a rally. I was able to get a few photos of the cars participating in the rally that evening. Suffice to say, some pretty incredible stuff.

This was an early Alfa Romeo race car, the P3, an original Scuderia Ferrari car from when Enzo Ferrari ran Alfa racing. Above that is a Bugatti Type 35, and below an Amilcar of French manufacture.

All incredibly valuable, to say the least, if not priceless.

Here are a few random photos you may enjoy, or have a look at all my portfolio, my work shooting roadside memorials, or car people that I have photographed.
