I set out this morning to meet with the very talented Nick Blair to get some advice and I planned to take photos to tell the story of our coffee. I took my 1979 Porsche 911 930, a truly wonderful old car and the Porsche that led me to sports car collecting and planned a series of shots including “starting up”, “the car in the morning light”, “behind the wheel”, “shooting the car with Nick” and “the 930 at Hidden River” … and I blew nearly all of those shots.
Fortunately I know why I messed up … was too hurried. I took too long taking the shot above and ended up rushing to meet Nick on time. It turns out that with the Leica M11 and its manual-only focus, I really need to be patient and thoughtful with the composition and focus.
Go figure.
Anyway, a mistake you recognize is less of a mistake than one you don’t, and I’m as encouraged by a few good shots as I am discouraged by a handful of blown ones.

Here are a few random photos you may enjoy, or have a look at all my portfolio, my work shooting roadside memorials, or car people that I have photographed.
