Pamela
Pamela Marie Erickson has a beautiful descanso on at an intersection in Vancouver, Washington. It’s in a nice little wooded area that seemed quiet despite the nearby highway. The memorial is well decorated and maintained, although I suppose I expect that since she died in 2020, not that long ago.

While the descanso is off the side of the road I’m not entirely sure Pamela died in a car. The only note I can find about her passing is a very simple obituary which, I admit given the relative recency of her death, surprised me.

My intuition says perhaps she overdosed. I’m not sure why I think that, just a hunch maybe, and not like it matters.
She was clearly loved.

Someone has really spent some time thinking about her and decorating her memorial. “You are missed but not forgotten” says a rock a the base of her cross, one that is perhaps missing a photo of her as something looks to have been peeled away.

A piece of wood near the base reminds someone, possibly Dave, to “keep your head up” and that “she is still around” — a particularly sad reminder of why people build these memorials. To keep the deceased in their hearts and minds.

Rest in peace, Pamela.
