Aaron and Izzy
One thing I have learned during this project is that you can’t really look for descansos, you just sort of come across them.
This was the case with Aaron and Izzy.

I’d driven by their memorial a hundred times at least, maybe more, but never noticed the small, brown cross on the side of the road. It is more or less in the shadows but on this particular day I guess the sun hit it just right and there it was.
Sadly, Aaron Jones and Isabella Huyck died in fire at this particular intersection when, apparently, Aaron failed to stop at the bottom of a steep hill and crashed into a tree.
He was thirty four, she was nineteen.

The cross is simple with their names etched into it. At the base there are some trinkets including a model car … something that always makes me wonder if the deceased either loved cars or had a small child.

Rest in peace, Aaron and Izzy.
