Ivan and the Best Dad
Another “dead man’s curve” situation where there were multiple descansos in the same location. No information about either — just not enough to go on, especially in New Mexico, for the search.

The light I had to work with was a little harsh, and I’m not in love with the results, but I guess that’s part of the artistic process.

One thing I need to challenge myself with is taking more notice of the little details. I’ve done some of that here and there, but often the littlest things are the most telling at these memorials.
For instance, this individual was the “World’s Best Dad.”

The World’s Best Dad was also a Marine, and in New Mexico I was seeing more and more flags and objects recognizing the service and sacrifice the memorialized had made for our country.

Rest in peace, Ivan and the Best Dad, and thank you for your service.
