I bought a Fujifilm x100vi in Europe because I needed a different focal length — easily the least financially efficient way to solve that problem I am sure — and I’m trying to learn how to use the camera’s “recipes”

The camera lets you choose a “film type” from a set loaded on the camera and then modify settings like sharpness, shadow and highlight, white balance, etc. to create a unique “look” for your photos. Sort of like what Leica does with their “looks” but you can edit these yourself and create new ones.

The problem is that I’m not sure I am finding a recipe that I actually like. This one is a “classic” look that adds some grain and changes the color a bit based on an old film type. I guess it’s okay, but I’m not sure I would use it.

The good news is that I can have the camera also shoot RAW so I get just the photo, but then the lens and sensor are nowhere near as good as the Leica or Hasselblad (or even the Sony, honestly) so besides being small and somewhat flexible … I’m not sure what I will use this camera for.
Here are a few random photos you may enjoy, or have a look at all my portfolio, my work shooting roadside memorials, or car people that I have photographed.
