Alisa

Alisa is honored in an obvious spot on Highway 97 between Terrebone and Madras. She’s off the side of the road in a well-decorated descanso, killed by a drunk driver who blew more than three times the limit in Oregon.

She was 20.

Another teen was permanently injured in the accident but she lived. The drunk driver was convicted and is serving 19 years in prison for his actions.

His sentence is probably just, but Miller was a young mom, and her memorial brought a tear to my eye. A small stuffed animal and a half-consumed bottle of Fireball spoke to the loss, the family that has been left behind, and a life cut short.

Sad stuff out there on the roads if you look for it.
