When I saw “April Lois Ledford” and a date I was pretty sure I would be able to learn something about what happened to precipitate this descanso. No luck, says the Internet, although it was a long day and maybe I just had bad search juju.

She has a really well done memorial, etched wood declaring that she was a beloved “sister, mom” and despite only being 40 when she was killed, a grandma.

I’m not sure why there was a second descanso behind the road-facing one, but it was more fancily decorated with plants, rope, and this tiny white turtle, tucked into the back.
