Zane

Zane

We spent more time on deadly highway 97 today, heading South from Sunriver towards … well … nothing. I mean, eventually we would have hit Klamath Falls and the California border, but it’s pretty isolated out there. Just fast moving cars and trucks and a lot of long, straight highway.

Zane Leroy Culberson was on that long, straight highway with a fully loaded log truck when he veered off the road. The same thing that paid his bills, trees, did him in, according to law enforcement.

He died in 2009 so his descanso is starting to age and bleach out a little. I had trouble getting the shot I wanted with the highway because the clouds had come in and the sky was a white background against a white cross. I’m sure there is a photographer’s trick for this that I just haven’t learned yet.

Rest in peace, Zane.
