Mom + Dad
Immediately across the highway from Leory there is an unmarked descanso that just says “Mom” and “Dad” on the cross. No other information, and no indication if it memorializes the same accident that took Leory’s life.

I caught it at a good time of day and was able to get the sunshine coming through the cutouts of “mom” and “dad” in the cross. I like how the photo above turned out, despite the sad indication that a family lost their parents out here.

Like Leory, this memorial overlooks a nice little valley of aspens, although unlike from the other side of the road, you can’t really see the mountains from here.
Not that it matters.
Initially I missed this one, and only found it when I stopped to photograph Leory. My wife, who was losing her patience after six other stops on the short drive we were on, asked why I crossed the road. “Another one,” I told here.
She remarked at just how dangerous highway 97 really is.

Rest in peace, Mom and Dad.
