Mark

I have Reddit users watching for descansos for me and one in particular has been sending me updates since I asked a few weeks ago. He must live near me since he’s pretty good about finding them in my neck of the woods, and yesterday he sent me the location for Mark Miranda.

Mark’s memorial is like so many — I have driven by them hundreds of times and just not noticed. It’s from 2019 when Mark lost control of his motorcycle and lost his life.

He was nineteen.

There is a Kawasaki motorcycle on top of his cross, I’m not sure which model but I’m going to guess it’s the one he died on. The bike, despite potentially being nearly six years old, is in pretty good shape and it tells me that more or less everyone else just drives right by the memorial and doesn’t see it or, hopefully, they do but show respect for his life and leave it alone.
