Leory Omer’s simple cross has been on the side of highway 97 since 2002. Twenty years is a long time for any object to withstand the weather in Oregon, much less a piece of metal that has probably not been tended to for years or more.

But Leory is out here, overlooking the road, Mount Hood, and a descanso on the opposite side of the road, perhaps from the same accident.
