Beach

I was surprised to see John’s descanso on the beach in Maui. I’m not sure why, but I was. I see memorials all over the place — in the mountains, in the woods, in cities — but I suppose “beaches” just wasn’t on my list.

Maybe John died in the water?

Regardless, his simple cross was beautiful against the deep blue of the ocean in Hawaii. I’m honestly not sure I love the color treatment I have applied here but the unadulterated color was just too much, somehow.
