Wiser

Wiser

My wife is easily the wiser of the two of us. She’s a mostly willing participant in my adventure photographing descansos, although I suspect it’s as much because she is going the same places I am while I shoot along the way and also because she wants to know if I get run over because I’m not paying attention, but I digress.

She is definitely wiser because when we passed this incredible memorial up on a cliff on Mexico Highway 200 and I gasped having never seen anything like it … she immediately said “no, not safe at all.”

“But I can park and walk back,” I unwisely exclaimed.

“No, not safe. Not happening,” she said with a finality that I experience infrequently enough with her to know she means it.

I pouted, then came across the Little Chapel, shot that and had an idea. “What if we drove by slowly, could you shoot it for me?”

“Sure, but on your iPhone. The Hasselblad is too complicated and if I drop it you’ll be pissed.”

“Fair enough,” and she was right. I’d be pissed if she dropped the 907X.

She got these photos which, if I have to admit, were probably about as good as I would have gotten given the situation. And she didn’t have to file any life insurance claims and the such.

Thanks for looking out for me, wife.
