Surf

Another descanso that gets filed under “my wife wants me to stay alive for a little longer.” This one was easy to spot on the side of the road between Punta Mita and Sayulita but nearly impossible to park (safely) for, so I had her take the shot with my iPhone.

I only noticed when I processed the resulting photo that there were two, possibly three memorials at the site; you can see Erick Lopez Surf’s memorial easily, but note the cross to the right and what looks like the last few letters on a cross behind Lopez’s blue cement box.

How interesting is that?

I’m not at all sure what protocol is in Mexico to put descansos on the same spot as others, but it is clear, some of these memorials have been in place for decades. I guess that means I should not be surprised when other people fall victim to accidents in these same, clearly dangerous spots.
