Greg
Greg Thorkildson was killed by a man with a suspended license driving a car with brakes he knew to be bad. The man had been drinking, and after the accident rather than stay to render aid to Thorkildson’s passenger who was seriously injured, the man and his passenger fled.
Fortunately the police found the man, and he was later sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

I’m sure the reality of the situation is more complicated, but sometimes when you make bad decision after bad decision it’s not the rest of the world, it’s you. Luka I. Tapuaialupe seemed to be very good at making bad decisions.

Thorkildson’s descanso is a tall, white cross at a three-way intersection in the Salmon Creek neighborhood of Vancouver, Washington. There are no flowers, but that’s perhaps expected since it’s been a decade since the accident. I was alerted to the memorial by several area Redditors who apparently passed it all the time on their way to and from work at the hospital nearby.

Rest in peace, Greg.
