Charles

The weather was and wasn’t great for shooting when the wife and I went to the Oregon coast for a few storm days. It wasn’t, because it’s sort of miserable to stand in the rain and try and keep it off the screen on the 907X; it was because I think several of the shots turned out wonderfully in the light with the rain and wet roads.

Charles’s descanso was, fortunately, under the trees and a little protected from the otherwise Oregon “sunshine.” Despite his passing nearly a decade ago in 2016 his memorial was still in good shape, and the daffodils coming up around it were a nice touch, planned or not.

Charles died speeding. Or rather, he crashed while speeding, got out of the crashed car, got into another car which was later stopped by Oregon State Police who took Charles to the nearest hospital where he died from his injuries.

Charles was twenty two.

I have to feel for his buddy — he watched Charles crash, helped him out of the wreck, and kept driving with a friend so critically injured that he died within a few hours. I can’t even imagine the conversation. I also can’t imagine not calling 911 for your friend who was that injured.

I guess I can’t imagine a lot of stuff …

Rest in peace, Charles.
