Red Cross
Driving up the canyon on U.S. highway 84 in New Mexico some time had passed since we had seen a descanso. It was a little unusual since the road seemed heavily traveled and dangerous with lots of turns and switchbacks, but the road was fun so I didn’t think much of it.
Of course, when I saw the Red Cross I stopped.

A brilliant pop of red against the brown and green backdrop of the low mountains of New Mexico, this memorial was an elaborate construction of metal and decorations that would not be out of place in an art museum.

I have experimented with new settings in Lightroom to highlight the red in this descanso. I’m not sure it works, but I’ll keep looking at it.

Rest in peace, Red Cross.
