New York II

So I tried again with “street photography” and it turns out I capture better images at night with the lights of the city. I love that the guy in the photo above saw me, back in the shadows.

These ladies were taking it all in and the girl on the right turned at just the right moment.

The exit from the subway is a great place to hang out and watch people. I was here for a bit and this bike messenger came towards me. This dang camera is so good that in low light and at high ISO … you can see the light reflect in his eyes.

Once I found a place to stand and blend away I was finding better and better shots.

The nice thing about shooting with the Q3 is that I don’t look like I am taking photos, more or less. Once I get the settings dialed I flip the screen up and just sort of look down at the camera.

The party goes on all night long in Midtown Manhattan. I’m not even sure what these kids were in line for, but the line went down the block off to the right. Finally, below, I did some more experimenting with motion. This piece of art in the median on Park Avenue framed the entry to 370 Park pretty well and I just sat on the curb, set the shutter to 1/30 or 1/15, and clicked.

Here are a few random photos you may enjoy, or have a look at all my portfolio, my work shooting roadside memorials, or car people that I have photographed.
