I reached out on Facebook in a local group asking about old rotting places to photograph in addition to the shots I took for The Dairyman. One very nice woman replied and said she had a really interesting old building on her property up in the hills.
Boy was she right!

She told me it was originally owned by a writer for the local newspaper, The Columbian she thought, and he used it as a “writer’s den” away from the main house. It had water and power and this beautiful old wood stove for heat.

The windows, up until recently, were intact but a neighbor had used the house for target practice … country livin’ I guess.

My favorite window was around back …

I could have shot all day but I was getting soaked and I realized that I didn’t bring anything to dry the camera with. Another time. Thanks to Rena for reaching out. It’s sort of amazing that total strangers will invite me onto their property and let me mess around with a camera.

Here are a few random photos you may enjoy, or have a look at all my portfolio, my work shooting roadside memorials, or car people that I have photographed.
