Gavin
Gavin Hermosillo was serving our country as a Private in the U.S. Army when he was killed in a four vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Oregon. A fire on the side of the road had stopped traffic, but another car didn’t stop in time and forced the car Hermosillo was in into oncoming traffic.
The photo from the crash in the link above is pretty bad. A twelve year old was also in the car and transported with serious injuries. The Internet doesn’t say what happened to the child.

Hemosillo’s descanso is pretty elaborate and easy to see from the highway, again despite the fact that you’re coming down a grade and going 75 or 80 miles per hour. His tribute is one of dedication to his life and his country.

The day was bright and I messed up the exposure a little so had to pull the colors down to make these photos work. I’m still staring at them trying to decide if they worked, but I do like the first photograph (the American flag, tattered, shown adjacent to the cross.)

Rest in peace, Private Hermosillo, and thank you for your service.
