RAS

“RAS” is all the descanso says, with nothing more to go on except for a few purple butterflies.

The shock of purple is what caught my eye. I was driving highway 20 because I had some time and I knew I would be going back toward Tumalo to shoot another memorial I already had on my list.

It’s interesting to sit there with these pieces of art, composing a shot and thinking about the next, as cars stream by at or above the speed limit.

I tried every combination of search for “RAS” but Google let me down. It turns out a lot of people have died on highway 20 so just having three initials doesn’t narrow things down nearly enough.

Still, it’s a nice memorial. Rest in peace, “RAS”
