Heather

Heather

Heather, Jared, and Kris all died on deadly Highway 97 in Central Oregon, just outside of Terrebonne. Jared was driving and lost control while passing, presumably on icy roads, in January 2022. His car spun, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with a utility truck.

All three died on the spot.

It’s clear that all three deceased are being honored at this descanso but Heather’s memorial stands out. The cross to the right has all of their names, but the grouping of three crosses to the left is all about Heather.

The plaque hanging on the center cross was put there by her mother. It has her name and states “You are Loved and Blessed Every Minute of Every Day, My Beautiful Daughter, You Will Never Be Forgotten.”

The plaque was heartbreaking enough, but when you walk around back there is a large metal square, painted with hearts and written on by various friends and family. I barely contained it when I read her mother’s note.

To lose a child, even one in their 40s, has to be absolutely devastating. To lose one in a preventable accident, that much worse.

Rest in peace, Heather, Jared, and Kris.
