Navidad

Navidad

On our last day in Punta Mita I woke up early and realized that if we got moving there would be time to get a few more photos, provided I knew where to look. Fortunately we had left several descansos behind on Mexican Highway 200, and so it was simple to go back to them.

Our first stop was at a little set of stores Dolce Mexican which had a single, sad memorial right there. I wasn’t able to learn much about the individual being honored because there were so many flowers … and I believe this was a very recently established memorial based on Google Maps not having the memorial in it’s view as of November 2024.

There was writing on the cross in addition to the sea star and conch at the base of the structure, but the only words I could make out were “feliz navidad.” I wonder if the person died on or near Christmas, again because the memorial wasn’t present the month before that holiday.

Another fast road; another death, memorialized.

Descanse en paz, y Feliz Navidad.
