5 Points

Tucked in under high tension power lines, at an incredibly busy intersection in Vancouver, Washington, with a view of the 5 Points apartments sits a single, anonymous white cross. I was tipped off about the location by an anonymous soul on Reddit which is good, since I’m pretty sure I would have never passed through this particular intersection otherwise.

Whoever is memorialized here is sharing space with a “vote for Mayor” sign that has passed its prime. I mean, I think … I stoped caring about politics awhile back. I’d try and discover the identity of the deceased but I can tell by the age of the cross it would be difficult at best; this one looks old, possible decades old.

I tried to get a shot of traffic moving around the descanso but it probably justifies going back with a tripod. There is a lot of traffic here, and I could feel the eyes looking at me, hunched over a strange box camera, taking photos of this odd cross.

Rest in peace, 5 Points.
