Demos

Demos

This morning I am thinking about the range of complexity and effort I have seen in the descansos I have photographed in the past few months. Some are very, very simple — little more than a bump on the side of the road — and some are amazingly complex.

I put the memorial for Nicholas Demos into the latter category.

To me it sounds like adrenaline is what did Nicholas in. Law enforcement reports that “speed and lane usage” led to his Saab leaving highway 97, rolling, and ejecting Demos from the car.

I can’t say for sure, but I suspect he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Nicholas was twenty nine.

His loved ones cared enough about him to craft a beautiful wood cross, There is a deer or an elk and horns etched into the wood with his name and date, it’s really very beautiful. The flowers are “fresh” and the entire scene is beautiful yet sad.

Rest in peace, Nicholas.
