Jose Luis
If you’ve ever been to Sayulita, Mexico you’ll know that parking is a headache. It’s a major tourist town near Puerto Vallarta, popular with surfers, art aficionados, and college kids alike. We went because, well, you sort of have to, and ended up parking nearly all the way up the hill on Av. Revolución.
Of course, there was a descanso across the street.

Jose Luis’s memorial has been at that spot since 2006, it seems. “The dark one” is written on the sign (el prieto) which is ominous indeed. His descanso was on a stretch of hill that hadn’t been consumed by pharmacies, OTTO, and shops catering to turistas like the wife and I.
Descanse en paz, Jose Luis.
