Robert
Robert Butler was, according to the helmet atop his descanso, a hard working man. His memorial sits on Oregon’s highway 26, out between nowhere and Madras.

The Internet was strangely quiet about what led to the descanso being here with the mountains in the background, Possibly because it’s been there awhile; possibly because Robert lived a quiet life.

I had both a 25mm and the 90mm lens with me when I shot this memorial. I like the results from the longer lens — the compression is interesting for sure. I think all the photos on this page are from the 90mm except for the last one (of the bottle, below.)

The post-processing I applied to these shots is new to me and I’m still playing with it. It probably has too much vignette …

Rest in peace, Robert.
